Winter Weather Minded Already.

My brain is flashing forward to days of snow on the ground and cold temperatures. It is telling me I need to get some warmer clothing to close the gap in my wardrobe and keep warm this winter season.

It makes me love cardigans like this one:

A cardigan that looks well made, comfortable, and cozy. I could throw it on over my t-shirts and be super warm in it.

It makes the shoe girl in me drool over boots like these:

Boots that look cool yet perfect for cold weather. In this case I am not the only one who loved them since they have sold out at Cutesygirl.com.

I guess my mind is better prepared for the weather change than my wardrobe is. I may have to take tiny steps to remedy this.

Furry Boot Trend Made Easy!

This season, it seems faux fur (and sometimes real fur) is everywhere. I have seen it on coats, gloves, cardigans, hats, gloves, the edges of shirts and skirts, and on boots/shoes. I have found the look intriguing but not intriguing enough to commit to buying a pair for faux furry boots.

I am loving the look of  the faux fur and shearling but cannot afford the price tag of the look when it is a trend that may not hang around. I really don't want to be stuck with expensive boots/shoes that are only in for a season and then seem silly to me in the future.

Then, on wandering around LuLus.com I came across these leg warmers:

Above: Wear The Wild Things Faux Fur Leg Warmers

What an inexpensive ($41.00 before tax/shipping) way to give this season's faux fur look a spin without the huge cash commitment. And you can use more than one style boot/shoe in the process. I am loving it!

I may have to add them to my "Christmas gift ideas" list and see if I cannot get a pair to play around with.

Things I Need To Add To My Wardrobe.

I completed my seasonal weeding out of my wardrobe, getting rid of too small or worn clothing items so that I can see what I need to purchase. It was quite fun to sort out the clothes I own because I hadn't been able to part with things the last "seasonal sort" but felt better about letting them go this time around.

After the shrunken t-shirts and worn clothes were put into the bag to send to Goodwill, I found some "holes" in my Fall/Winter wardrobe that need filling. The colder temperatures and rain have added to this need.

I need long, solid colour, socks like these:

Or in natural colour, super soft, style like these:

Above: Supersoft ribbed socks by GAP

I need the socks in similar styles in natural, grey, brown, and black. I have so many socks in wild patterns, stripes, and designs that I am needing socks that are a little more "tame" to wear over tights with short skirts.

The annoying thing is these styles are impossible to find! They either sell out or are not carried by the local stores. I cannot figure that out since Spokane is suppose to be more conservative in style. I can find long socks in rainbow stripes or silly bunny patterns but not oatmeal colour knee highs! It baffles me.

I also am looking for cardigans because I looked in my wardrobe and saw I own only two. I use cardigans to wear over t-shirts so I stay warm in winter. I used to own more than two but the knit tends to unravel, pill beyond repair, or the cardigans shrink after many washes when cotton. So I need to replenish my cardigan collection.

I really want this one:

It looks comfortable but the fact it is 100% rayon is a bit of a downer. A bit ironic as well since the company that makes it is called "Cotton Emporium". I am trying to stay within a very strict budget so I have to buy "cheap" at the moment so I suppose beggars cannot be choosers.

This style is also appealing:

I love the ruching and the 3/4 sleeves on the cardigan. The dark grey colour also appeals to me.

This one is classic:

I would get a lot of use out of it but wish it were more tightly fitted to the body. I like fitted styles because they look sleeker.

I am finding it hard to get that perfect cardigan. One that isn't "trendy" so that it will be out of style in a season. There are so many handkerchief style cardigans out now and they just do not suit my body type or style sense.

Why does it always seem that the exact style I want is not available or easily obtainable? It is maddening to search all over for a pair of socks or a well cut cardigan that doesn't break my bank account. *Sigh*

So, I will be continuing to look for socks and cardigans. Hopefully, I will find some that suit my tastes and style soon.

Found: The Perfect Stay-Put Eyelining Pencil.

I am one of those people with the eyes that do not show much upper eyelid. This means that eyeliner pencils tend to smear on my upper lid (and vanish from where they are suppose to be along the eyeline) so I have to wear liquid eyeliner to avoid that. I had all but given up on eyelining pencils because of the mess due to the shape of my eyes. It is just a smeary mess minutes after I apply the pencil eyeliner.

Then I gave mark No Place To Run eyeliner a try:

It stays put! It goes one smoothly and smudges just enough to achieve the "smokey eyes" look. I tend to wear my eyeliner "winged" (like in the 60s) and this eyeliner is perfect for that! The eyeliner doesn't transfer to my eyelid, the wings stay put at the corner of my eyes even if my eyes water, and it stays on until I take it off. The best thing? I can wash it off with soap and water.

Big thumbs up to Avon and the mark line for making this eyeliner!

Time To Overhaul The Wardrobe.

The weather has turned to autumn and the leaves are turning colours, as well as starting to fall form the trees. The cold nip to the air has me digging out my scarves and socks.

Fall always makes me feel the urge to clean and get rid of excess so I am eyeing my wardrobe and deciding it needs an going through. I have some old clothing that needs to be donated to charity or thrown away if too worn. I have this planned for the weekend and hope that it shows me what I need to replace or get when it comes to what I wear.

I am also working on setting days for photo shoots with a few models. Yes, I am still working on the project and hoping to use people's costumes they are buying for Halloween for the shoots. Everyone cross your fingers that the shots solidify and are not canceled after being scheduled.

And, to play out this blog post, a song that reminds me of the Pacific Northwest in Fall/Winter

Style No-Nos: Diaper Change Needed!

I found yet another clothing item that looks like someone needs their diaper changed:

Above: Slouch Silk Shorts by Lover

I cannot understand how this is an appealing style. Why would a grown adult woman want to look like she needed a diaper change?

Join me in just saying "No!" with hope designers will get a clue and stop the " soiled diaper look" madness!

Unfortunate Style Names For Clothing.

These jeans are really cool looking with their obvious stitching:

Above: Women's Skinny Pee Party (Blue) by Blank Denim

Yes, look at the name of the style in the link under the photo....

They are called PEE PARTY !!!!

What kind of style name is that??? Just...I can't even grasp the reasoning behind naming these jeans Pee Party. It suggests that people go around peeing their blue jeans because they are too damn lazy (or wasted) to use the toilet properly. It brings (to my mind) a bunch of coked out, scenester, kids too wasted to make it to the toilet so peeing themselves like 3 year olds and calling it "edgy".

It's an unfortunate name for a pair of really nice jeans:

Whomever named them? You are not being edgy, hip, or very witty in naming these jeans Pee Party. It just makes you sound immature and lame.

It also puts me off buying them because it brings bad visuals to mind.

Pee Party indeed.

Pretty, Purple, Necklace.

This necklace:

Above: Freedom Necklace at Forever 21

It is so pretty! I have a love for purple, jade looking, stones and this necklace has that look. It would be perfect in my wardrobe and I would wear it often.

The thing is, even though it is $4.80, I really do not need it. I have been cutting back on buying and just wearing what I have in my wardrobe and jewelry collection. I just cannot think of any reason I have to buy it. This means I have placed it in my bag (the cart for buying) at the site and will see how long it is in stock and if my mood for buying it changes or not.

Still, it is a cool necklace, so I decided to share it with you.

Buried Deep In Creativityland.

I know, I know, I have been very lax in posting in this blog recently. I have been caught up in my project and since I am creative minded, I tend to just throw myself totally into my projects because I enjoy doing them and being swept away in creativity.

I got the thumbs up from my friend on the project after showing him my first samples of photography from the shoots I did in Sept. It was a great feeling and let me know I was right on track in my style and vision for the photos in the project. It inspired me to start setting up more photo shoots and tweak the photos a little more as I go along because I know what I want in vision and I am very close to getting it.

So, yeah, I have been not focused on this blog much though I love it dearly. I will continue to sporadically post in it and start sharing more of my photography in it as well. It makes me happy to share my work with a wider audience.

In this blog I will post a photo from a past shoot that I really like. I hope you enjoy it as well.

And now off I go to set up my photo shoots for next week. I have one slated for Monday and am so excited about it!
