Ohhhh Shiny!

I have to say..... this coat:

...haunts my dreams. It's a beautiful coat and the fact it has an asymmetrical lapel, and button-front, just wows me.

Me wants it, my precious. (to quote Gollum)

Pops the Cork...

I was wandering around the Internet...and found these sandals:

Above: Stuart Weitzman "Spring Fling" cork sandals.

I wasn't so sure about them at first because, well ,they are cork. The more I looked at them, the more I grew to love them. The cork has to be comfortable, as a material, because it is quite soft. The styling of the shoe is also beautiful and they would be wonderfully lightweight. If I saw them in a store at a reasonable price, I would definitely buy the sandals.

Then I wandered around Bluefly.com a little and noticed something...Weitzman is not the only designer to be using cork in shoes right now. Michael Kors is as well:

Not to mention the many designers who use cork as the base of their sandals this season....like Jimmy Choo:

Choo doesn't take it totally to extreme like Weitzman, nor do any of the other designer is have seen, except Kors. They tend to keep the cork as the base of the shoe. Weitzman uses it for the whole shoe:

Weitzman seems to love the material, cork, and use it to make whole shoes out of with only a bare minimum of metal and leather added.

So, I will be keeping an eye out on this trend because it seems to be growing and I am stumbling across more and more shoes online using cork as a shoe material.

And the sky is grey...as is fashion.

I have found I have fallen in love with the colour/shade grey. I used to find it boring but now, I am drawn more and more to it and keep adding grey items to my wardrobe.

I am drooling over grey clothing, shoes, and accessories I find online (mostly at http://www.bluefly.com/ ) as well.

Like what you ask?

The Versace bag is so shiny and beautiful. It makes me wish I had the money to buy it because it would quickly become a favorite of mine. Ahhh...to be rich and be able to buy designer items to add to my wardrobe. That would be the life.

I actually saw the YSL boots in a store and felt the "Ohhh shiny!" gravitational pull from them. I need to find a pair just like them because they look so comfortable and so modern.

The Chloe bag looks like it would be very versatile and great for an "everyday" bag. The patent leather dresses the grey up a lot and the dual-strap adds so many possibilities to the bag's usage. It would go with so many things in my wardrobe.

I don't know who decided to use grey tweed in shoe construction and design but I am liking it. It looks clean and casual.

The Calypso blouse just screams to be worn out on the town...maybe on a stop at the martini bar or a nicer restaurant. I like the almost metallic sheen the blouse has.

These are just a few examples...that I am currently drooling over...of my love of grey clothing items. I just had to share.

What Is, My First Post?

I had a reawakening to fashion these past 6 months. I had some things happen in my life that made me think, "Time to redo my wardrobe because the stuff in there isn't who I am anymore." Strange how that happens sometimes.

So, I went through the wardrobe and got rid of a huge backlog of clothing dating back to 1990. Stuff that was in good shape but I would never wear again, stuff that was in bad shape from being worn to death, and stuff that just was not me anymore.

It was a very freeing activity....and made me glad to shed my old wardrobe skin. Now I am in the process of rebuilding my wardrobe with pieces that suit me now. It's a slow process since I am not flush with cash at the moment. So, I am slowly adding new pieces...little by little.

I discovered stylefeeder ( http://www.stylefeeder.com/ ) around the same time this mass tossing of my wardrobe started and found that site was a great way to pretend to buy things I liked, and show off my style at the same time. I started to notice trends by what other people were adding to sylefeeder, both good and bad. It made me want to start my own blog devoted to fashion and what I have found that made me think, "Ohhhh want" and what I find tacky.

I cannot claim to be a huge fashionista or to be someone to look to to find out what will be hot...I just know what I like and what I don't like and I hope to write about it here.

So ends my first post...breaking the cherry of this blog.
